Hardy Diagnostics – Unveiling of Microbiology Entrance

On December 12, 2023, Marian Regional Medical Center hosted an unveiling donor signage event recognizing the generosity of the Hardy Diagnostics, a local medical device manufacturer, for their significant contribution of $289,000 to acquire specialized laboratory equipment.

With Hardy Diagnostics’ generous donation, Marian was able to acquire the MALDI-TOF and Phoenix Analyzer.

Both pieces of equipment will revolutionize the way Marian, and the greater Central Coast, studies microbiology. Kevin Ferguson, MD, FASCP, Medical Director of Laboratory and Pathology Services, stated that the equipment will aid laboratory scientists in “precisely identifying microorganisms that may be causing disease in a short period of time,” which will therefore provide a more streamlined process for Marian clinicians to identify the most appropriate antibiotics early on.
